25-August 2005
Ok GvG is the way to go. So everybody visit it
once a day with a officer & discuss tactics ' ranek' & ' jerek' seem to have
the most ideas for tactics :).
On another note this web site will no longer be updated
by me, instead check the forums (via link page) as i shall be offline for
>6months :(
therefore think of this web site as some maps of the
area. btw there is a huge all of guildwars map in the images folder worth
downloading. warning though its big!
Well see u on the game when i can,
Cloud Dew

Drachir made
it to Level 20 on 29/7/05 ! Congratulations to him (a picture is in the
gallery) for those that haven't played with him online, He's a great fire
elementalist with a tendency to get -60 death penalty & still soldier on!
24-July 2005
Right Jerek has
announced that members should meet up in the guild hall & then talk via whispers
with the senior officers OR better still jerek to find out who will
fight & when for the next guild battle. This way we are more likely to have a
plan and less likely to get stuffed by other teams ;)

OK, so 1 day later and we have had three defeats :(, It was bound to
happen & I recommend that we start PLANNING our TACTICS first before we enter
anymore GvG battles, in fact it might be worth people trying out arena combat
first whilst the officers come up with plans which we can use in GvG or
PvP (HoH) games.
A good idea is to if each of us sends in (to email address below) a small
jpg of just there skill bar with there favourite skills on it, from this we can
see were some weak spots are. I have placed a link to PSP below in case some
people dont have PSP to make jpg's.

Second EVER
Guild vs. Guild battle and we WON! It was against a European team and
we were comprised of Zargoth, Cloud , Doria and Jak used henchmen to
make up the rest of the team. The Tactics used were:-
Took FLAG to flag tower (to the right of the map) to get a morale boost
right at the start. You can see it in the first of the guild photos below.
Doria stayed behind to guard the Ghost Lord using Necro skills inc 'Vampire
touch.'
Then, Jak used Elementalist 'Area effect' spells mainly water to slow
down there team & Zargoth used his warrior on the strongest member of party,
whilst Cloud used blessings on Jak & Zargoth (Live Vicariously & Vital
Blessing) also used 'Heal party' (ALOT) but res only once as an automatic res
is in place.
During the match we noted that pressing 'O' gives you an idea when
the next resurrect point will happen, if its due v soon don't bother
with resurrect spells. Also we NEVER went onto the ICE to fight as its just
too slow (inc spell casting).
Furthermore, we also noted that once we had killed the team we had only a
LITTLE time to rush across either the right hand side or across the bridge to
kill their GHOST lord, whilst ignoring their archers etc.
Speaking as a monk Cloud, found that the 'reversal of fortune' & 'banish'
were nice skills to have as they only used 5 energy & could help keep the
warrior alive & put a little pressure (+45 holdy damage) on the foe attacking
the warrior. Also the monk had the Blessed signet to help speed up recharging.

First Battle in our brand new guild hall, very interesting, but difficult. Recommend all players read the PvP guide below to get an idea as to how to
organise ourselves. Here is a pic of the new guild hall looking outwards &
another looking to the base building. This guild hall is like our own 'Ascalon
city' in which only our guild member PvP players can meet!

14-July 2005
An update has taken place & some people are finding it a bit laggy now, this is
most likely due to the arena.net servers being a bit busier than usual
because of the upgrade. Lets hope the is all. Also found a link to another
guildwars web site
http://www.guild-hall.net/ which is quiet good. Further more we also have
our own forums... the url of which is in the announcements in the game...
11-July 2005
We are very close to purchasing our guild hall (we
need another 10000gp) , we have tried to win ourselfs one, but atm our
memebers are not able to beat enough of the korean teams :D! so its been
decided to purchase the hall. The hall picutes will be shown here once we
have purchased it, so give money to Jerek Bazzar when u see him online & we
should have it before the 18th!

This site has had a update to feature Guildwars content
as you probably guessed! The content is mainly in the form of a photo album of
Cloud Dew & Jerek Bazars travels through the GuildWar lands.
How to PvP....by the Valandor
Guild of the Week
The Valandor (Val)
The Valandor (Val) formed during the World Preview Event held in October
2004, with the sole purpose of playing PvP. The founding members were
determined to create a strong, competitive PvP team where close teamwork was
a focus. To that end, the guild has been kept purposefully small--just
twelve members, all of whom are Finnish. During the Beta Weekend Events, the
Valandor focused on competitive play in the Tomb of Primeval Kings
tournament, with members devoting their time to learning the intricacies of
Guild Wars combat.
Following the release of Guild Wars, the Valandor moved to Guild-vs-Guild
(GvG) combat, where it has maintained a high place on the ladder, competing
for top positions with the best Korean and American guilds. During E3 2005,
Val twice went into battle against War Machine--winners of a nationwide
tournament--and earned the distinction of being the only team to defeat War
Machine.
Guild-vs-Guild Build Design
The Valandor develops its GvG team builds to a plan. Examples include
focused "spike damage," heavy use of damage-over-time (DOT) effects, or
builds designed to shutdown enemy Monks completely. Most often, Val members
plan on heavily stressing some of their enemy's skill choices, while
rendering others useless. One such method requires using a lot of Hexes to
overtax the enemy Monk's anti-Hex skills, while not using any Conditions,
thus turning any of the Monk's Condition-removal skills into wasted skill
slots.
All builds have advantages and disadvantages, and it is important to keep
these in mind at all times. The pros and cons should be considered both
while designing and playing the build. Keeping this in mind, the Valandor
has found an effective way to develop new builds: Find a good base setup
that works for your team and use that as a template. Valandor's normal
"template" is outlined below.
- One "runner." This character has the task of carrying the flag and
distracting the enemy's flag carrier. Typically, the runner spends a lot
of time separate from the team, and this needs to be considered when
selecting skills. Speed boosts, damage resistance, and the ability to
fight one-on-one are important. Any other skills should supplement the
team build.
- Two or three healers. These characters need to work well together,
with a plan for how they will handle situations such as removing Hexes and
Conditions. It is important to avoid over-healing or using excessive
removal skills when dealing with Hexes and Conditions. Consider having
guild members specialize in Healing, as this is a key role.
- One or two "toolbox" characters. The Valandor uses a "toolbox"
character to help minimize any weaknesses in the build. For example, if
the team build has a vulnerability to Warriors, the toolbox characters
equip anti-Warrior skills. These characters can also equip skills designed
to counter enemy characters that could cause the build trouble. Valandor
members typically utilize Mesmer characters for this role, due to the
diversity of skills available to the class. Be prepared to change the
setup on a toolbox character frequently while testing a new build.
- Three or four "build" characters. These characters, one of whom should
be the target caller, define a build. The design of these characters
depends entirely on the goal of your build. For example, a "spike damage"
build might include a few Elementalists who make heavy use of Lightning
skills.
The strategy employed during a match will vary depending on your team's
build and your enemy's build. It is crucial that all players on the team
know their character well and fully understand their role in the build. As a
team, always work on improving teamwork and building efficiency. An
efficient build--one that uses the least resources for the required
effect--can mean the difference between failure and success.
